Woodside High School Cheerleading Mats

Originally the concept of getting safety mats for the high school I coach at was not supposed to be such a big deal. We would raise the money and then purchase our mats from a retailer. Despite the rather simple nature of the idea, the actual project has taken us roughly 6 months. This page details the process, the issues faced, and how we worked to resolve them. Unfortunately this project isn’t really technical, but I have spent so much time on it, that I would like to post some thoughts for people looking to go through this process for themselves in the future.

Fund Raising

The first part of the project was raising the money for the cheerleading mats. These things are expensive, people. As you can see at the Tiffin Mats Site, these things normally run about $800 for each 42x6x2 inch mat. It takes seven of these mats to make up a standard high school competition floor, nine for all star competitions.
